Jean Pascal stuck to the 175-pound limit Thursday on the eve of his IBF light heavyweight elimination bout against Fanlong Meng.
The Quebecer posted a weight of 175 pounds, while his Chinese opponent oscillated the scales at 174.6 pounds.
Pascal (35-6-1, 20 KOs) will be fighting his first fight since defeating Badou Jack by unanimous decision of the judges in December 2019, which allowed him to retain his “regular” midfielder title. WBA heavyweights.
“I’ve faced better boxers than him, better left-handed boxers in Chad Dawson, Lucian Bute and Marcus Browne. Fanlong Meng he’s good, he went to the Olympics, but I don’t think he’s a Chad Dawson, nor a Lucian Bute, nor a Marcus Browne. I will use my experience and cunning to win this fight,” insisted Pascal confidently after the weigh-in.
“I think we have the advantage in almost everything. I think about it, and they don’t have the advantage in any aspect, ”said the new Quebec coach, Orlando Cuellar.
Former boxer Juan Manuel Marquez has also spoken out and believes Pascal is a big challenge for Meng.
“Jean Pascal has speed, experience, power and I think it will be difficult for Fanlong Meng.
Pascal was supposed to reunite with the Swede in June 2021, but he failed a doping test. He then lost his belt and was suspended for six months.
“I wanted to show people that this time, in my training and in my fight, that I am negative. So far, all tests have been negative,” Pascal said.
