Devin Haney: “I leveled the best of Kambosos”
Newly minted undisputed world lightweight champion Devin Haney George interpreted his victory with a unanimous decision against Kambosos.
“I felt comfortable. I stuck to the fight plan. It was about hitting and not giving up. I did this for most of the fight. I slowed down in the last round because I knew I had a comfortable advantage, but I had a good, smart fight.
I leveled his best qualities. He wanted a right and a strong left hook. Kambosos could not strike me with any of these blows. Hats off to him, he’s a true warrior. I respect everyone who enters the ring. There was nothing but respect during the promotion of the fight. Even though he treated me disrespectfully, I kept my respect. I want to thank George Kambosos and all of Australia for my visit.
Thank you for giving me this chance, George. Many so-called “champions” wouldn’t give it to me. “George was a true champion, he gave me this opportunity.”
