A boxing match in South Africa was stopped after one of the athletes began to behave inappropriately, knocking down an opponent.
Simiso Buthelezi and Sifesile Mntungwa fought for the African Lightweight Championship. In the last of the 10 planned rounds, Buthelezi pinned his opponent in the corner and sent him to the floor, he even flew out of the ropes, but managed to quickly return to the ring.
However, immediately after this Buthelezi behaved strangely. He went to an empty corner and started shadowboxing, throwing punches into the void. A few seconds later, the referee stopped the fight, Mntungwa was awarded the victory, but the official announcement of the result was postponed until the reasons were clarified.
Buthelezi is currently in the hospital with a suspected serious head injury. Some sources report that the boxer is in a state of artificial coma.
