Fights
The woman changed sex to beat the men in the ring. Before that, she was in prison 13 times.
The Briton loved boxing, but she couldn’t punch girls in the face. Now her dream has come true.
Recently, the news feeds are literally overflowing with reports of the participation of masculine transgender people in women’s sports. All over the world, they have already ceased to be surprised at the victories of non-women, who are limited exclusively to taking hormones.
But the story of a British woman who went through operations and a difficult childhood is nothing short of respectful. To dare to box with men after a sex change is worth a lot.
Difficult childhood and 13 drives
Briton Danny Baker is already 34 years old, but he does not have a rich track record in the boxing ring behind him – his record consists of only three fights. But this circumstance should not be surprising, because until recently such a man simply did not exist. It was only a few years ago that Danny began her gender reassignment procedure.
In her youth, Baker liked boxing and wanted to do it. There was even a boxing gym near her place of residence, but Danny sincerely believed that she could not punch girls in the face, as she felt like a man. She had to take individual boxing lessons to avoid internal contradictions.
But due to difficulties in the family, classes with the coach had to be abandoned. Danny was abandoned by his mother at an early age. As a teenager, the girl was left to herself. This was taken advantage of by adult men who introduced her to the sale of drugs. This naturally led to the first arrest. Problems with the law continued until the age of 25. During this time, Baker went to jail 13 times on light charges.
During all these misadventures, Danny began to change sex. Unlike most transgender people today, the Briton decided to make a full transition. She not only took hormonal drugs, but also had an operation to remove the mammary glands. This painful procedure left two large scars on Baker’s body in the chest area.
“I felt like a monster. I thought that there were no people like me in the world. Until the age of 21, I did not know that there was such a thing as “transgender”, until my ex-girlfriend once showed me one program on TV. And she was right on target. I realized that I am one of these people, — said in an interview with SWNS Danny.
Return to boxing
After another release, Danny decided to quit crime. A few years later, Baker returned to boxing. First, the athlete met agent Kelly Maloney, who specializes in transgender athletes. Soon, under her patronage, he joined the Sparta 300 boxing team and resumed training.
– I met the same boxers as me. It changed my life a lot. I thought, “Wow, I can do this.” I began to work out in a professional gym with professional trainers,” Baker said about his emotions from the resumption of training.
Danny has already spent three fights in the ring, competing as part of the events held by Sparta 300. Danny is not after a track record. After three fights on account of his two defeats with one victory.
“When I box, I feel like a human, I feel like I belong to the boxing community and I don’t feel like I’m transgender. I just feel like a man,” Baker shared his thoughts during the fights.
