Dubois and Brian miraculously make their way to the championship game. The winner will be among the elite

Daniel Dubois is one step away from a full-fledged world champion at the age of 24. Success? Like yes. The opponent will be an undefeated and undefeated champion from America, a client of Don King. But if you look closely, there are too many questions for everything – including the Briton himself.

Dubois was ahead of Joe Joyce, whom he lost ahead of schedule. Joe is still waiting for the big fight and Dubois is almost a champion

On October 28, 2020, the two Brits met in the ring. One of the main hopes of Foggy Albion heavyweight now and in the future is Daniel Dubois and Joseph Joyce, who now has to go to the champions, otherwise he may not have time. A kind of war for a better near future.

It turned out dynamically and not as much as expected. Due to his youth and his ability to hit more and more accurately, Dubois had fun touring. Joyce did not feel his opponent’s kicks. Not exactly, but given that he was almost a hundred percent penetrating in the ring, the old Briton felt good.

Moreover, he took aim and hit back hard. So much so that with each round, Dubois’s eye swam more, and one-tenth of it eventually disappeared behind a hematoma. It turned out that Daniel had a broken orbital bone – a painful injury in itself, and every now and then blows to the face fly. Dubois removed – the first defeat, just ahead of schedule, and even in an important duel – still the first serious opponent.

During this time, Joseph Joyce managed to get into the ring again – against Carlos Takam. Also a good opponent, a confident victory (with a technical knockout in the sixth round) and that’s it. The rest of the time he was commenting on Joe, Usyk, Joshua and Fury. Freelance specialist, no less. But I couldn’t get to the headers or anything like that. Always close but never hits the target.

Daniel Dubois should thank his promoter, Frank Warren. Regardless, he’s a master of his craft. The young Englishman turned against Bogdan Dinu. The opponent is definitely not better than Carlos Takama. Worse. However, immediately for the title – the “interim” WBA champion.

There was no doubt that Dubois would quickly take down an opponent like Dean. He did just that – a second-round knockout.

Also, in the WBA, the British appetite was slightly whetted – all minor belts were cancelled. Thus, there is no “temporary” or “champion on vacation” left in the Association. But still there is more than one – “regular” champion and “superchampion”. The former “interim” WBA took first place in the rating. Thus, Dubois, who came back after the defeat by refusing to continue the fight and beating Dina, became number one in the rating. Well done Warren.

Dubois’ title challenger to the “regular” WBA heavyweight champion is Trevor Bryan. A guy with a 22-0, 15 KOs record, an absolute discrepancy with that record.

Who is your favourite?

Daniel Dubois and by a margin. You won’t gain much from Brit – 1.06 for a victory, 1.18 for a knockout and 6 for a points victory Brian’s situation is such that his victory may be the biggest upset of the year: Trevor’s victory alone is estimated at 8, a knockout victory is already estimated at 12 and the judges’ decision is estimated at 21.

Yep, we’ve already seen some sad things this year – the same Tony Yoka who unexpectedly lost to Martin Bakola and spun his luck around the hoop as best he could. But no matter how much Trevor Bryan emphasizes this in his pre-match comments, the situation is still very different.

Still, Bakole is a noticeably better boxer than Brian despite the rating. Martin has boxed with Kamil Sokolovsky, Michael Hunter, Mariusz Wach, Kevin Johnson, Sergey Kuzmin and now Tony Yoka. I just lost to Hunter, beat others, some ahead of schedule. Bakole has played regular matches with Joshua and is leading Usyk for their second training camp in a row.

Trevor Bryan is a project by Don King, who, thanks to his old connections, led his fighter to the championship. The overall rating of Brian’s last four opponents before the championship game is 82-80-2. Yes, the second number is the number of losses. Brian then rested for over two years and came back in 2021, defeating the beaten Bermain Stifern, taking the vacant title and then defending against an anonymous Jonathan Goodry.

Dubois is also disappointing with the level of opposition. After defeating Bogdan Dinu in the evening, he was boxed by Paul – Woodley, but defeated Joe Cusumano there. No one will know who he is, because he has already fallen in the first round.

It looks like a fight for the title, both opponents have sufficient records and the names are fairly well known, but both reached the title in such a way that it would have been better if they hadn’t. Trevor – in general, Daniel – for now.

Brian needs to trust the lucky punch. In other options, the fight lasts no more than six rounds. At least we’ll see a knockout.

The duel between Daniel Dubois and Trevor Bryan will take place on Saturday, June 11 in Miami. Estimated start of the battle – 00:30 Kyiv time.

Let’s bow our heads. 21-year-old boxer died on New Year’s Eve

Every day at 9 am, Ukrainians commemorate the people who lost their lives in the Russia-Ukraine war. Today Sport.ua recalls that 21-year-old Thai boxing master Vladislav Vakulenko, a very positive person, had great potential in the ring, but with the beginning of a full-scale invasion he decided to defend Ukraine. The fighter died exactly three years ago, on December 30, 2022, while conducting a combat mission near Bakhmut in the Donetsk region.

Vladislav was born in Kiev and has been involved with sports since his childhood. Just six months before his tragic death, he received a diploma from the National University of Physical Education and Sports of Ukraine and dreamed of major competitions, medals and training future champions. In parallel with his studies, Vladislav trained in Muay Thai. The man hoped to return to training in the gym after the war.

Vladislav Vakulenko took up arms immediately after the Muscovites’ large-scale occupation of his territory. “We live with war! I understand that we live in a historical time when there are real brave comrades nearby, whose soul and body are eager for war… This is a time when you will remain a hero or die a hero,” he wrote on social networks.

His friends and coach remember Vlad as a man of light. He always smiled, joked, supported others, was a master of inspiration, did not make excuses, did not back down from difficulties. The friend wrote: “You’ve done more at this age than some have done in 50 or 60 years.” And Vlad’s mentor, Stanislav Voiten, recalls: “He did his best in training, gave his life in the fight against the invader. I am proud to have known him.”
