No. 1 contender Daniel Dubois (18-1, 17 KOs) dethroned regular WBA heavyweight champion Trevor Bryan (22-1, 15 KOs) by fourth-round knockout Saturday at Casino Miami Jai-Alai. Dubois dominated the fight from the start before ending the duel at 1:58 of the fourth round.
The Brit ended the fight with a left hook that sent the American face-first to the floor in the 4th round. Bryan tried to get up, but he was clearly not fit to continue the fight, forcing the referee to end it. Although he was the younger of the two fighters, Dubois was dominant from the start.
The 24-year-old pugilist becomes the mandatory contender for the winner of the rematch between Anthony Joshua and Oleksandr Usyk.
