A PHOTO. Ukraine unfolds Azov flag at boxing tournament in Hungary
Ukrainian boxer Diana Petrenko He made a symbolic gesture to support Ukraine at the Bornemissza tournament held in Eger, Hungary. Diana won a silver medal in competitions, which was the 16-year-old athlete’s international debut.
During the award ceremony, Petrenko unfurled the Ukrainian flag, which depicts the symbols of the Azov regiment, but the organizers asked the athlete to hide it. The Ukrainian girl rolled for the rest of the ceremony, but refused to take it off completely.
Diana trains in a gym named after Serhiy Ambros, a Ukrainian athlete and military man who served in the Azov Battalion and died in 2015.
“I wanted to honor Sergiy Ambros and all the fallen defenders of Ukraine… The organizers didn’t like my move. “They tried to hide the flag twice, but I didn’t listen to them and held the flag in my hands throughout the awards ceremony,” he said.
Diana also dedicated the medal to the defenders of Ukraine, including members of her family. In particular, the godfather of the girl, Sergei Onoshenko, died in the battles of Gostomel.
