Chukhadzhyan, Ivanov and Velikovsky will fight in Germany. Who are the competitors?

Today, July 2, three Ukrainians will fight simultaneously in German Bavaria, the city of Erding. At the same time, two out of three fights will have titles important enough to seriously consider the winners as full-fledged world champion belt contenders.

We tell you who will box against whom and which titles will be at stake.

Andrey Velikovsky (20-2-2, 13 KOs) – Catalin Parasciveanu (21-1, 7 KOs)

Andrey Velikovsky, 27, will be the first Ukrainian to enter the ring. The duel against the representative of Moldova will not bring him any titles if he wins, but it should be more interesting than it seems at first glance. The opponent’s name doesn’t say anything, though.

Velikovsky is a strong representative of the Ukrainian boxing school, whose track record does not matter at the moment, although these two losses and two draws spoil the overall picture. Andrei last lost in 2017. Before that, in 2016. First, he was eliminated in the fifth round by the still undefeated Ukrainian Eduard Skavinsky. Then Daniel Skardina came out of the box for the duel, with which Velikovsky flew to Italy.

A draw in professional boxing is rare and doesn’t always make sense. In 2018, the Ukrainian drew with the then unbeaten Belarusian. With an offended Mexican in Germany in 2021.

In general, Velikovsky is a hard nut to crack. He knows a lot, boxing fun and has character. Dimensional, powerful, smart enough, and combinatorial. The future competitor is a touring boxer, for whom it is always difficult. Just one defeat in a career where there are no big names, but enough middle peasants. A wonderful experience for a Ukrainian.

Petr Ivanov (15-0-2, 10 KOs) – Robert Talarek (26-14-3, 18 KOs)

IBF Intercontinental Super Middleweight Title Match

Ivanov is one of the most athletic and powerful boxers in Ukraine. He’s only 25 – the heyday of his career and a great age to reach his first championship titles.

Until recently, Peter held the title of world champion among juniors, according to the WBC. Now – a more important and authoritative belt, which could theoretically allow in two or three fights to reach the belt of the world champion.

The only thing that raises questions is the level of Ukrainian opposition. For example, Rafael Ortiz looked like a good test, but Ivanov bombarded him in just three rounds. Or Nunu Lavai – a physically strong, strong boxer, whom Peter actually beat in one round. All these stories are not a problem for a Ukrainian. They are good boxers but Ivanov is too strong for them. However, the Germans have not yet brought him to the opponents, who could really protest the Ukrainians.

The Pole Talarek is a good option, but you shouldn’t rely on a super-strong test. He’s bigger (and has longer and longer arms). More experienced and only once out of fourteen defeats – lost ahead of schedule to Liam Smith in 2015.

A good gatekeeper, but nothing more. If all goes well with Ivanov, then Robert’s problems will start from the third round. The next question is how well the Pole is doing.

I would like to see a Ukrainian with someone who is not only experienced, but also talented. In the category where Canelo is the champion, you have to test yourself harder to be confident in everything.

Karen Chukhadzhyan (20-1, 10 KOs) – Blake Minto (14-2-2, 3 KOs)

IBF International welterweight title challenge

One of the most talented Ukrainians fighting for an important title. The international belt is one of the last before the first places in the ratings and possible competition.

Chukhadzhyan runs for a long time, but this does not make his fights boring. On the contrary, with each round, the fans see how the athlete reveals himself more – that’s great.

The previous fight – against Ryan Martin – was not easy from the first round, but after a few rounds he read his Ukrainian counterpart. Everything that happened after that was a matter of technique and skill. Karen hit harder and cleaner and didn’t let her opponent do anything. Until the eighth lap Martin held out, but there was no more strength.

Blake Minto is another interesting competitor. Powerful, capable, but without a super-powerful blow. In general, Chukhadzhyan should cope with such a colleague not quickly, but interestingly. With smart boxing, the Ukrainian is in perfect order, so following this will definitely not be boring.

In general, Karen’s time to date guys with a name. Category champions are Errol Spence and Terence Crawford. A traditional Minto is not enough to even prepare for a theoretical meeting with them. In the heavyweight division, there are more than enough competitors who have the chance to develop even faster and prepare more effectively.

Mario Barrios, Jaron Ennis, Keith Thurman, David Avanesian – all these fighters will give Chukhajian five times more than five like Minto. There is hope that after this fight we should expect opponents who will be fought not only by boxing experts, but also by ordinary fans.
