“Perhaps politics played a role” – MMA fighter Grebnev about refereeing the fight Tsarukyan – Gemrot
The political component could have influenced the refereeing in the fight between Russian Armen Tsarukyan and Pole Mateusz Gamrot at the UFC Vegas 57 tournament, says AMC Fight Nights fighter Alexander Grebnev.
Tsarukyan lost to Gamrot in a five-round fight via unanimous decision. After the fight, the Russian fighter’s manager Sayat Abdrakhmanov stated that he thought “Tsarukyan took three rounds for sure.”
– The decision in the duel between Arman Tsarukyan and Mateusz Gamrot turned out to be extremely controversial. Personally, I did not understand how it was possible to give preference to the Pole. The Russian interrupted him in the standing position, and also fought better and dealt damage on the ground. His opponent had transfers and control. Yes, he hung on his back, but did no damage. Why give victory? Perhaps politics played a role. But I do not want to believe that such aspects influence the opinion of the judges in the UFC.
The only thing I did not expect such a fight from Hamrot. Look how cool he was in one leg and immediately broke behind his back. I have never seen this done by him before. Previously, Mateusz fought with Diego Ferreira, but there were no such transfers and control, ”Grebnev said in an interview with RT.
For the 25-year-old Tsarukyan, the defeat from Gamrot was the third in his career, he also has 18 wins.
