LAS VEGAS — The four fighters for the two main event bouts at UFC 276 made weight Friday at the UFC Apex, to set the stage for the gala.

Israel Adesanya swung the scale at 183.5 pounds, while Jared Cannonier posted a weight of 184.5 pounds for the main event. Adesanya will defend his middleweight title at T-Mobile Arena on Saturday.

In the fight that will precede them, Alexander Volkanovski will try to defend his featherweight title against the one he faced to win it, Max Holloway. Volkanovski and Holloway both posted a weight of 144.5 pounds.

ESPN has Adesanya ranked as the third best fighter on the planet pound for pound, and the best fighter at middleweight. Cannonier is third in their rankings at middleweight.

Adesanya (22-1) is still undefeated at middleweight. He won his last fight by unanimous decision against Robert Whittaker at UFC 271 in February. The 32-year-old Adesanya has successfully defended his title four times since his reign began in 2019. His only loss came at light heavyweight against Jan Blachowicz at UFC 259 in March 2021.

Cannonier (15-5) has won his last two fights and five of his last six. In his last fight at UFC 271, he defeated Derek Brunson by knockout. in the 2nd round.

Volkanovski and Holloway are two of the best featherweight fighters in UFC history. ESPN places Volkanovski tied for 4th pound-for-pound and Holloway 6th.

Volkanovski (24-1) has won his last 11 fights in the UFC and he has won 21 straight fights overall. He recently got the upper hand on the korean zombie, Chan Sung Jung, by K.-O. technical in the 4th round in April at UFC 273. He successfully defended his title three times, having taken the belt from Holloway in 2019. The 33-year-old beat Holloway twice.
