Russian UFC fighter Pyotr Yan said that he could head the UFC Fight Night series tournament, but does not yet know the name of his next opponent.
Yang holds the top spot in the UFC bantamweight rankings, the division champion is Aljamain Sterling, whom the Russian lost in April in a rematch. Yang admitted that he is not yet thinking about a third fight with an American.
– I didn’t even think about a rematch with Sterling myself – I understand that the whole division will not wait, they don’t really need it. Who might be next is still unclear. There were a couple of options on the horizon, but then somehow hop-hop – and that’s it. For now, I’m just waiting and practicing. I think there will be something.
Probably, it will be some kind of media fight that is interesting. We asked for a fight in Abu Dhabi, but the UFC wants us to headline some kind of Fight Night, to have a five-round fight, so now we are waiting for what will happen.
