Eddie HERN: Lomachenko would sell much better in the UK than in the US
When asked if he could build a better career in England if he signed with Vasyl Lomachenko, the famous organizer Eddie Hearn replied:
“It’s complicated. Yes, there are a lot of ardent fans here ready to fill the stadiums. But like I said, it’s about pay-per-view. Not a star for casual viewers.
The problem with their fight in London was how many there could be. If I had promoted Loma here in December, I would have already filled the O2 Arena. Could I have done the same in March or April?
The reason we sold Vassily to Campbell was because it was a one-of-a-kind and unique fight. He entered the ring in England for the first time since the 2012 Olympics in London.
It all depends on the amount in season, whether there are good light hunters in the UK. But yes, it would sell much better in the UK than in the US.”
