Former Dynamo forward Kevin Kuranyi said that he helped to transfer Russian forward Alexander Kokorin to Aris.
On August 31, 31-year-old Kokorin moved to Aris from Fiorentina on loan until the end of the 2022/23 season.
– Did you really take part in the transfer of Kokorin to Aris?
– Yes. I know Kokorin, the management and a couple of other people at Aris well. They were looking for a striker with the qualities that Kokorin has.
Why did you decide to take part in the deal?
“That’s my job, ha ha. This is a good deal, everyone can benefit from it. Kokorin has not played for the past two years, and now it is important for him to be in the cage and play. I am sure that he will succeed in Aris. Everyone will be fine.
— Were there other options?
— Yes, there were proposals from Russia and Turkey. But we thought that the best combo would be with Aris – coach [Шпилевский] and the players are well matched. Everyone is sure that Kokorin will be able to get in shape, come back stronger and restart his career, ”Sport24 quotes Kuranyi.
In the second round of the Cypriot Championship, Aris will play at home with Olympiakos from Nicosia. The meeting will take place on Friday, September 2.
