Zenit retained leadership in the RPL, beating away Spartak
Zenit defeated Spartak in the match of the 8th round of the WORLD of the Russian Premier League (RPL).
The meeting took place in Moscow and ended with a score of 2:1 in favor of the St. Petersburg club. The guests were able to answer the goal of Alexander Sobolev with accurate shots from Dejan Lovren and Andrey Mostovoy.
In the second half, Spartak lost defender Ruslan Litvinov and midfielder Christopher Martins due to injuries. Senegalese Balde Keita made his debut for the Red-Whites in this meeting, signing a 3-year contract with the club in the summer transfer window.
At Zenit, the Brazilian Claudinho returned to action, who was injured in the match of the 4th round of the RPL with Akhmat (0: 0).
Zenit extended the winning streak in the RPL to 4 matches, the club with 20 points leads the standings. Spartak (16), who lost their second match of the season, are in 5th place.
In the next round, Spartak will go to visit Rostov, and Zenit will host Orenburg at home. Both meetings will take place on 11 September.
