Serbian CSKA midfielder Sasha Zdelar dreams of becoming the captain of the Moscow club in the future after goalkeeper Igor Akinfeev.
– You were a captain in Partizan. Do you want to one day take over the bandage from Akinfeev?
– This is a dream. I’ll tell you a story: when I first came to Partizan, Sasha Ilich was one of my idols. He was captain for over 20 years – the greatest player ever. And I became the captain after him. After only three years at the club! So I know what pride and responsibility it is at the same time.
After Akinfeev, it will be difficult to choose someone new. Igor is not just a captain, he is this club. I am proud to play alongside him. And, of course, I will be happy if the person who will be the captain after Akinfeev is me – a guy who came to Russia from Serbia. But now is not the time to think about it at all – I’m new here, I need to prove my worth, – Sport24 quotes Zdelar.
Zdelar moved to CSKA from Partizan in July, signing a contract until 2025.
