But Todd Boely entered his name in the history of the club!

The era of Todd Boeli at Chelsea is not getting off to a good start. In the first 6 rounds, the Blues won only three times, drawing once more and losing twice to their rivals. Of course, the owner himself does not enter the field and does not choose the composition for the match, but you still have to answer for the result. Especially after large-scale spending in the summer transfer window.

However, the current management of the club believes that such waste could have been avoided. Boeli is sure that he lost hundreds of millions because of Roman Abramovich and his team.

But the American has already entered his name in the history of the club!

Transfer record

It has long been accepted: I bought a team – show the whole world your bottomless wallet. This tradition was launched just by Abramovich, who made a real revolution in the transfer market. In 2003, a Russian businessman spent 170 million on new players, among whom were the brightest stars of the time: Hernan Crespo, Juan Sebastian Veron, Claude Makelele…

Subsequently, Abramovich broke his own transfer records more than once and the last time he did this was in the 2017/18 season – then Chelsea bought new players in the amount of just over 260 million euros. Not surprisingly, the club then received a one-year ban from UEFA for violating financial fair play rules, although officially the punishment was linked to illegal transactions at the youth level.

Todd Boeli also came up with trump cards. In his first transfer window, the American investment mogul spent as much as 282 million euros, thus setting another club record. Chelsea’s most expensive signing was Leicester centre-back Wesley Fofana, who was paid €80.4m. However, the new owner of Stamford Bridge is not too happy with the role of a money bag. The American blames Abramovich for his unprecedented spending!

Mistakes of the past government

The current Chelsea authorities believe that spending could have been many times less if it were not for the mistakes of the previous management team – in particular, Abramovich’s faithful assistant Marina Granovskaya, who for many years was responsible for the Blues’ sports block. The Russian woman has been repeatedly recognized as one of the best football managers in the world, but it seems that the Americans are not very worried about this. They have their own concerns.

The dissatisfaction of the Boeli team with the actions of the previous leadership became known thanks to the agent Saif Ruby, who works with Antonio Rüdiger. The German was one of those who left the club this summer, so his representative is very critical of Abramovich, and this should be allowed for.

The agent has spoken to Chelsea bosses and knows their moods. They do not understand how it was possible to release almost all the defenders for free, including young ones like Fikayo Tomori and Mark Gekhi. According to Ruby, Boeli believes he could have spent 100 million less if not for Granovskaya’s strange transfer policy. But Ruby, of course, pays special attention to her client:

– The former Chelsea leaders did not try to keep Antonio at all. But he really wanted to stay and be the leader of the team. But they only offered him half of what Romelu Lukaku earns! – the agent is outraged in an interview with the Daily Mail.

Yes, Ruby is offended, but there is some truth in his words. The new leaders of Chelsea really had to adjust many of the unfinished processes that they inherited. However, do not forget that the club was sold in a hurry and under pressure from the state. How to keep everything clean under such conditions?

If Granovskaya had been given more time, she would certainly have put things in order. Now the Americans will have to solve problems themselves. Do you want a football club? Get it!
