Chelsea treated the sacked coach in a boorish way. What’s going on in the club without Abramovich?

Thomas Tuchel endured 10 humiliating minutes.

The dismissal of Thomas Tuchel came as a surprise to the entire football community. The recent Champions League winner has left Chelsea, becoming the latest victim of the new regime. There was no need for this sacrifice, but the American owners, led by Todd Boely, pay their own money and have the right to order music.

However, this does not change the fact that Tuchel was kicked out of Chelsea in an absolutely boorish way. The Germans did not even bother to personally inform about the decision of the board of directors.

What’s going on in the club without Abramovich?

Empty base

On Wednesday morning, Tuchel went to the base in Cobham as usual to have an explanatory conversation with the players after the loss to Dinamo Zagreb (0-1) in the Champions League. However, it turned out that the German was the only one who came to the southwestern suburbs of London.

As soon as the coach arrived at the base, he received a call. The bosses of the club did not even bother to personally communicate with Tuchel! As a result, Thomas endured a humiliating ten minutes, during which he tried to convince Todd Boeli and his companion Behdad Egbali to give him more time. Alas, the big bosses were adamant. The conversation ended – and the coach went to collect things.

Such a parting with the favorite of the fans, of course, does not paint the behavior of club leaders at all. Under Abramovich, coaches were also fired with enviable regularity, but it was still done in a more humane way. The Sun reports that Tuchel was absolutely shocked by this attitude.

Thoughtful solution

As strange as Boely’s decision may seem, it may very well be that the American still had reasons to fire Tuchel. First of all, the results of the team raised many questions. At the same time, it is not at all a fact that the German would be able to correct the situation. The New York Times columnist Rory Smith says the coach has been withdrawing from the players lately and reluctantly attending to club business.

– Tuchel’s public complaints about his players caused discontent in the dressing room. He used to be his boyfriend, but this season, many felt that he became more cold in relations with the players – especially with those whom he did not consider important to the team. Boeli and Egbali noticed the same thing. When they tried to assemble a squad in the summer, they turned to Tuchel for help, because they had not yet had time to appoint a technical director. But the German was not very helpful,” Smith writes in his column.

It seems that the management’s decision was ripe earlier, and the resignation was not provoked by the defeat from Zagreb at all, but by internal processes. Another question is that the time for dismissal is still chosen as inappropriate as possible. It is the height of the season, the Champions League has begun, and the players, whatever one may say, were still gathered under Tuchel. What’s next for Chelsea?

Potter is a mistake?

Graham Potter is currently being named as the top candidate for the Blues’ head coach position. The Brighton helmsman has already proven himself to be a thoughtful and systematic specialist who knows how to work for a long time. The only question is whether such a model suits Chelsea. If the new owners are so hysterically parting ways with coaches, should Potter leave his project at Brighton and go to a club where his best qualities will not be appreciated? Nevertheless, British experts in the majority support this choice.

When you are a coach, your only goal is to get to the very top. Chelsea are a top club with top players – so why not take this chance? asks former Liverpool player Robbie Fowler in an interview with Eurosport.

– Potter is a passionate nature. He has already proven everything to everyone and now he has every right to be a candidate for such a high post, – quotes the former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand BT Sport.

The situation will be resolved very soon. If Potter does accept Chelsea’s offer, the Blues will have to pay Brighton an $18 million release clause. It will be a pity if the club loses its spiritual leader – and even like that, in the middle of the season. But it will also be very interesting to watch Potter work with the best players in the world.

Zhurova believes that PSG has no problems with Safonov and Zabarny

French team Paris Saint-Germain shouldn’t have any problems as the Russians play on the same team Matveya Safonov and Ukrainian Ilya Zabarny. This opinion was expressed by the Olympic speed skating champion, deputy of the State Duma Svetlana Zhurova.

Previously, Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine Matvey Bedny he called on the French club to resolve the situation, which, in his opinion, is inconvenient.

“All soccer players are professionals,” Zhurova said. “In my opinion, this situation is inconvenient only for Ukrainian officials, who constantly try to add fuel to the fire PSGnor did the players themselves express any complaints or report any discomfort. Accordingly, there is nothing to fix here. The club itself knows how to do better.”

Zabarny moved to PSG last summer. Safonov has been playing for the Parisians since last season.

Calls to remove Russia’s partners sound like desperation – Svishchev

Requests by Ukrainian officials to impose sanctions against Russia’s partners after the renewed admission of Russian athletes to competitions do not find understanding and seem like a gesture of desperation. This opinion was expressed by the first deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on Physical Culture and Sports Dmitry Svishchev.

Former president of the Ukrainian Football Federation Andrei Shevchenko called for sanctions and the removal from participation in sports competitions of representatives of countries supporting Russia.

“These are already some gestures of desperation. Our athletes are increasingly allowed to participate in international competitions; there are no conflicts or boycotts. Athletes even communicate with each other, this does not bring negative consequences. The appeals of Ukrainians to remove our athletes from every part of the world no longer find understanding among appropriate sports officials. Therefore, such appeals already seem desperate,” Svishchev said.
