Mevl’s defender agreed to a pay cut for the sake of moving to Spartak – agent
Slovenian defender Miha Mevlya agreed to a pay cut in order to be able to play in the capital’s Spartak. About it RIA Novosti Sport agent told football player Evgeny Novikov.
On Thursday, Spartak announced the signing of a contract with a 32-year-old player for one season with the possibility of extending for another year if certain conditions are met.
According to information “RB Sport”the extension option will be necessarily activated only if the player plays at least 90% of the matches.
– It’s hard not to find a common language with Spartak. They quickly came to a decision, because there was no time already. The first negotiations took place a month ago, and more specifically, they began to communicate after the injury of Ruslan Litvinov. Micha accepted this offer with great pleasure. Considering that we had two more years of the contract with Alanyaspor, Miha broke the contract and came to Spartak for less money. All because this is Spartak, they don’t invite them twice. The sports principle was higher than the monetary one.
Imagine, a 32-year-old player with a million dollar contract abroad went for less money. This is a conscious transition. Moreover, Micha understands the pressure he will face. He realistically assesses his strength, – said Novikov.
– Will the contract be extended if Miha plays 90% of the matches? We would put a signature if 99% were written there. It’s not about the option, it’s about the fact that this is Spartak,” the agent added.
Earlier in Russia, Mevlya represented Rostov, Sochi and Zenit, with whom he became the national champion in the 2018/19 season.
