Real Sociedad achieved a close win over Manchester United in the first leg of the 2022/23 Europa League group stage.

The meeting of group E, held on Thursday in Manchester, ended with the victory of the guests with a score of 1:0. The ball from the penalty spot in the 59th minute was scored by Brais Mendez.

The full match was played by Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo. Prior to that, the Portuguese entered the field in the game of the tournament at this level in the 2002/03 season, when the Europa League was called the UEFA Cup.
