The former owner of Spartak Moscow, Leonid Fedun, is difficult to blame for the mixed results of the team, as he invested personal funds in the club, but the break between the championships turned out to be significant, said Dmitry Kombarov, ex-football player of the Red-Whites and the Russian national team.
Earlier, Lukoil announced that it had acquired 100% of the club’s shares, as well as the Otkritie Bank Arena stadium. Leonid Fedun resigned as president, member and chairman of the board of directors of the Moscow “Spartak” in connection with the withdrawal from the shareholders of the football club. He will not take part in the management of the club.
– The results were different. Even if they didn’t win anything for 16 years, but in the subconscious of the fans, the leadership always had one thought – about the championship. Because of the long pause, such an opinion was formed. That kind of money was spent for a reason. Something didn’t work out, but this is football. Fedun spent his money, so no one can show him. If he had spent less money, what would have happened? Nobody knows, – quotes Kombarova “Championship”.
Fedun acquired a controlling stake in Spartak in 2004. Under him, the team became the champion of Russia and the winner of the Super Cup in 2017, the owner of the Russian Cup in 2022.
