The authorities of the Voronezh region did not expect that the leadership of Fakel would dismiss Vasilenko from the post of head coach

The head of the department of physical culture and sports of the Voronezh region, Dmitry Sobolev, said that the termination of the Fakel contract with head coach Oleg Vasilenko came as a surprise to the entire region.

On Tuesday, the press service of the Voronezh club announced Vasilenko’s resignation as head coach. The specialist has been working in the team since September 2020 and brought it to the top division of the Russian championship for the first time in 21 years. Dmitry Pyatibratov was appointed interim head coach of Fakel.

– The Fakel Football Club Association has the right to independently make decisions regarding personnel changes. The news of the departure of Oleg Vasilenko from the post of head coach of FC Fakel came as a surprise to the entire football community of the region, while letters and appeals from fans with a request to influence the situation were not received by the department.

The Department of Physical Culture and Sports of the Voronezh Region is ready to assist in the development of an event on the occasion of the departure of the coach, however, the relevant proposals have not been received by the Department to date.

Despite the fact that the appointment of a new head coach is the responsibility of the leadership of FC Fakel, the Department of Physical Culture and Sports of the Voronezh Region is ready to take part in the discussion of this socially important issue, – Match TV quotes Sobolev.
