I can say that a referee’s style of work is very different in England and France. In England they do not waste much time in vain, the game has a fast pace, not all violations are recorded, in France the picture is different. In England, the referee may take some time to explain the nature of the offense to you. They are determined to teach: if you are interested in shades, then they may not show a yellow card. When I first moved to England, the referees came to me before the match to say hello and get to know us. In France it is no longer allowed to communicate with judges, this is not very good. I support the referees’ use of microphones, this will force both referees and us players to be more careful. In rugby it works great. It would give football a new color.
