The blame for the goals conceded from Rostov in the second half lies with the players of Spartak, the game developed according to a scenario similar to the one in the match with Zenit, said the head coach of the capital’s team, Guillermo Abascal.
On Sunday, the Red-Whites lost away to Rostov with a score of 2:4 in the ninth round of the WORLD RPL. The first goal of the match was scored by Spartak midfielder Quincy Promes. In the game of the eighth round with the St. Petersburg “Zenith” in early September, the Moscow club also took the lead in the first half, but did not keep the advantage and lost – 1:2.
– This match was in many ways similar to the game with Zenit. For the last two rounds, the situation has literally repeated itself. We dominated the field, we had the advantage, the opponent almost never left his half of the field. We scored a goal, and again something happened. Instead of building up the pressure and scoring more, we let the opposition create two chances. They had two shots on target and scored twice. This is a psychological moment. Of course, we will see and work on it.
In the second half we just gave two goals. In the first case, it was a pass from the edge to the center, we just gave them an assist to the attacker. And in the case of the penalty, there was a naive childish mistake, so you need to increase in maturity, grow and move on, ”Abascal said on the air of the MATCH PREMIER channel.
According to him, the team did not stop playing after four missed goals.
– It is important to note that the preparation for this match was quite difficult. It was a tough week, we couldn’t get 20 players to train. Nevertheless, we prepared in the best possible way, we tried. If we analyze the game, we will see that two goals were simply given to the opponent in the second half. These are individual mistakes, psychology, you need to work. I can’t say that the defeat is especially painful, because we understood how Rostov would play, that there would be throws, long balls, a fight for the second ball, rebounds. Now we have to recover from this unfortunate result as soon as possible and think about the next match, work on the mistakes.
Why isn’t the team taking a hit?
— I can’t agree. The guys fought, tried, made a lot of innings, Rostov locked himself in his own penalty area. The team didn’t give up. In this difficult situation, when there are many injured, we must pay tribute to the guys, – said the Spanish specialist at a press conference.
In the tenth round of the RPL, Spartak will host Lokomotiv on September 18.
