Briton Ashworth can become the sports director of Spartak – media
Paul Ashworth may take the position of sports director of the Moscow football club “Spartak”, according to Metaratings.
As the publication notes, the 52-year-old British specialist is personally acquainted with the leaders of the “red-white” and representatives of the Lukoil company, which is the owner and sponsor of Spartak. Ashworth currently works as a scout for a club in the third division of English football.
Earlier, the general director of the Moscow club, Evgeny Melezhikov, said that Spartak plans to appoint a foreign sports director in the near future. In mid-July, the Italian Luca Cattani left the post of sports director of the club.
Ashworth in 2005 served as the sports director of Rostov and for a month was the acting head coach of the Rostov team. He also worked in Latvian clubs, Kazakhstan’s “Astana”, from last year until February this year – in the English “Brighton”.
In August, Lukoil bought out 100% of the shares of Spartak and the Otkritie Bank Arena stadium, Leonid Fedun left the post of president and chairman of the board of directors of the club.
