Monaco midfielder Alexander Golovin has finally scored the first goal of the 2022/23 club season. The debut goal of the Russian was for the Monegasques not the only one in the next League 1 match, but at the same time a victorious one. However, the fans did not even notice the significant event for the player, praising others involved in the success.

Are they really that used to Sasha’s goals, or have they decided to boycott everything Russian to the point of absurdity?

First goal of the season

The confrontation between Reims and Monaco in the eighth round of the French Football Championship ended in a crushing victory for the Monegasques with a score of 3: 0. To bring the matter to a big score, the guests helped the accurate blows of Takumi Minamino and Wissam Ben Yedder at the end of the second half. The winning ball at the beginning of the second half of the meeting was scored by Alexander Golovin.

For the Russian midfielder, the goal was the first in the 2022/23 season. The previous six matches of Ligue 1, Sasha ran empty, but finally reminded of himself, scoring not only an important, but also a beautiful goal. The transfer of Axel Disasi from the flank definitely reached the addressee, who turned out to be Golovin. The Reims defenders gaped and allowed the Monaco footballer to close the canopy with an accurate header in the fall.

This success made it possible for Monaco to temporarily climb to the fifth line of the French championship, and at the same time bring the winning streak in Ligue 1 to three matches. After a pause for the games of the national teams, Philippe Clement’s team is waiting for a home meeting against Nantes, in which one can again expect accomplishments from the rested Golovin. The coaching staff of the Russian national team did not bother Alexander this time – the national team will hold the next training camp without one of its leaders.

The Russian did not deserve attention?

It was the goal of the Russian that formally became victorious for Monaco, but the fans did not notice the midfielder’s special merit in the team’s next success. In club social networks, Minamino and Ben Yedder got a huge portion of kind words, as if it was their balls that decided the outcome of the confrontation. Yes, one could be happy for the guys that they finally scored in the new season, but what about Golovin?

The post dedicated to the ball directly scored by Alexander did not abound with comments, but at least here the Russian football player could somehow be noted. However, the fans identified Disashi as the main character of the episode. Transfer, of course, good, but really the author of the goal did not deserve kind words?

The footballer still deserved minimal attention – Golovin was noted by the only Russian-speaking commentator who found the word “GOAL” in the name of the Russian legionnaire. The French, for the most part, are unlikely to understand anything in Cyrillic, and therefore hardly anyone understood the subtle hint.

It remains to be hoped that the French public is simply already spoiled by Golovin’s goals in Ligue 1 and the debut in the new season, and at the same time the winning goal means nothing to them. Otherwise, ignoring the merits of our footballer may lead to thoughts of some kind of insane boycott of everything Russian, even if a particular Russian helps to forge victories for his team.
