The press service of “Zenith” reports that one of the best defenders in the history of the “blue-white-blue” died in the 73rd year Vladimir Golubev.
In his hometown main team, the Zenit pupil made his debut at the age of 18 and spent 14 seasons there. Played in 384 official matches, he scored 7 goals. In 1972 he became the silver medal of the European Youth Championship, he was included in the lists of the 33 best footballers in the country, he played for national and Olympic teams USSR. For several years he was chosen as captain of the Zenith.
In 1980 Vladimir Golubev became one of the main heroes of the bronze season: the Blue-White-Blue won the Soviet Union championship medals for the first time. He repeatedly received invitations to teams from Moscow and Kiev, but remained on the banks of the Neva.
After completing his playing career, Vladimir Evgenievich worked as a coach and twice led Zenit in very difficult situations (1987, 1989). Under his leadership, our team played 47 matches in official tournaments.
