Bilyaletdinov believes that the Russian team will not be allowed to participate in the America’s Cup: “It’s ridiculous, we are antagonists”

The performance of the Russian national team at the South American Cup is unlikely for political reasons, former football player of the national team Diniyar Bilyaletdinov told Match TV.

The press service of the Russian Football Union (RFU) announced on Tuesday that the Russian national team will not take part in the draw for the qualifying round of EURO 2024. The draw will take place on October 9 in Frankfurt, Germany will host the European Championship.

– An expected decision, because everything can be expected from them. Now not only football, but all sports are subject to a political component. There is no surprise. If we somehow all get together and cooperate, then this will not hit Russian football in any way. I mean that it is necessary to continue to raise the prestige of the Russian Cup, to develop our own tournaments,” said Bilyaletdinov.

– What do you think, can the Russian team take part in the South American Cup? For example, the Japanese team played in this tournament.

– They won’t let us in. So what is the America’s Cup? The phrase “Russian team at the America’s Cup” already sounds ridiculous. Russia and America are two antagonists.
