Napoli will no longer be able to use the image of the former team player on the club’s shirt Diego Maradona.

The claim of the Argentine’s children was upheld by the court of Naples. Napoli used the image of the famous footballer on last season’s shirts. A few months before the Argentine’s death, the Italian club bought the rights to use the image of Maradona from the entrepreneur Stefano Chechi.

Furthermore, the Argentine’s heirs asked for 450 thousand euros, since Maradona and Chechi had previously entered into an agreement according to which 50% of the proceeds of these products depended on the former player of the Argentine national team. Napoli earned € 900,000 by selling 6,000 jerseys.

The court took into account the good faith of the club and decided to recover 150 thousand euros from Chechi for “his disrespectful behavior”, which harmed the interests of Maradona’s heirs.
