The UEFA Executive Committee approved the exclusion of the Russian national team from the EURO 2024 draw

The UEFA Executive Committee approved the draw procedure for the qualification of EURO 2024, the Russian team was not admitted to it, the press service of the union reports.

The meeting of the executive committee took place on Tuesday in Croatian Hvar. The draw will take place on 9 October in Frankfurt am Main. The 2024 tournament will be held in Germany.

– Germany, as the host of UEFA EURO 2024, received a direct ticket to the final stage. All Russian teams are currently excluded from UEFA competitions in accordance with the decision of the Executive Committee of February 28, 2022. On July 15, 2022, this decision was confirmed by the Court of Arbitration for Sport. Russia will not take part in the draw for the qualification of the European Championship, according to the UEFA website.

53 national associations will take part in the qualification of the European Championship, the teams of which will be divided into 10 groups (seven groups of five teams, three groups of six).

The winners and runners-up will advance to the finals. The winners of the last three places will be determined in the play-offs, which will be played in March 2024.
