Former Real Madrid and Italy footballer Antonio Cassano compared Manchester United striker Cristiano Ronaldo to Italian singer Toto Cutugno.
“Cristiano, listen to me well: you are a strong football player, you have won a lot… But you are like Toto Cotugno, always second from San Remo,” Cassano said on Italian television, Mundo Deportivo cites the player’s words.
Toto Cutugno won the San Remo Music Festival in 1980. After that, he took second place in 1985 (as a composer, not as a performer), 1987, 1988, 1989 and 1990.
Ronaldo owns many individual achievements: he is a five-time winner of the Golden Ball, the best scorer in the history of national teams (117 goals). Throughout his career, the Portuguese has been regularly compared to Paris Saint-Germain and Argentina striker Lionel Messi.
