Englishman Paul Ashworth took the position of sports director of Spartak, the official website of the Moscow football club reports.
The statement of the “red-whites” notes that in addition to extensive professional experience, an excellent knowledge of the Russian language played an important role in the appointment of a 52-year-old Englishman to the position.
In 2005, Ashworth held a similar post at Rostov and was the club’s acting head coach for a month. The specialist also collaborated with African teams, worked as the executive director of the Kazakh Astana and as a scout for Brighton in the English Premier League.
Spartak, having scored 19 points in 10 matches, is on the 5th line in the WORLD standings of the Russian Premier League (RPL).
