Kechinov said he did not know anything about the new sports director of Spartak, the Englishman Ashworth
Ex-forward of the Moscow “Spartak” Valery Kechinov said that he did not know anything about the 52-year-old Englishman Paul Ashworth appointed to the position of sports director of the club, and also expressed the opinion that the ex-goalkeeper of the team Artem Rebrov would be more suitable for this position.
Ashworth previously worked as the head coach of the Latvian “Ventspils”, as well as the acting head coach of the Kazakh “Astana”.
His last place of work was the English “Brighton & Hove”, where he served as technical director. In 2005, he was the sports director of Rostov and acted as head coach.
“I don’t know anything about this man. It is very difficult for me to comment on something, I only heard that he worked at Rostov, but did not delve into what he did there. In general, I am in favor of trusting Russian specialists. It seems that there were rumors that Artem Rebrov was supposed to become a sports director – for me, it would be better if he became one. Let him have no work experience, but if he had confidence, he would have worked, thinking about how to bring as much benefit to Spartak as possible, and not about putting as much as possible into his pocket, – said Kechinov Gazete.Ru.
Artem Rebrov is currently Spartak’s technical coordinator.
Earlier, the first vice-president of Lukoil Alexander Matytsyn said that he headed the board of directors of Spartak.
