Former Spartak player Valery Kechinov said he did not understand the appointment of Briton Paul Ashworth to the post of sports director of the Moscow club.
Spartak announced the appointment of the 52-year-old Englishman earlier on Monday.
– I don’t know why Spartak decided to take a person with an ambiguous reputation – for me this is a question. I don’t know anything about this person at all. I heard that he worked in Rostov, but no more. At a time like this, appointing some foreign sports director is wrong, in my opinion.
They said that (Sergey) Rebrov could become a sports director. With confidence, he could realize himself in this position. But again, some incomprehensible purpose. Will watch. Now it is difficult to bring some normal football players from Europe, so this appointment is absolutely incomprehensible to me, – Kechinov told the Championship.
