The sports director of the Samara “Wings of the Soviets” Sergey Kornilenko responded to rumors about the interest of the St. Petersburg “Zenith” in the team’s goalkeeper Ivan Lomaev.

Earlier, Lomaev got into the final squad of the Russian national team to prepare for a friendly match with the Kyrgyz team (2:1), but did not fly with the team to Bishkek.

– We re-signed contracts with all our leaders in the summer. They all really like Samara, they managed to fall in love with the city, and the fans, and the stadium. Everyone is focused only on the Wings. But it is clear that if Zenit or another top club comes tomorrow and makes an offer, then we will consider it.

Everyone wants to try their hand at top clubs. But we do our best to keep the guys with us as long as possible. There are all conditions for this. It is important that Governor Dmitry Azarov is maximally involved in the affairs of the club and the Wings have everything they need.

Zenith has its own lists. But we think about ourselves, not about Zenit. Lomaev is currently a Wings player, and we hope that he will be of benefit to our team for a long time to come. On the other hand, if a player is called up to the national team and receives offers from big clubs, it means that we are working and developing correctly. In the “Wings” guys are progressing.
