Former Manchester United player Patrice Evra spoke about his ex-teammate Wayne Rooney.
Rooney always lived in the shadow of Cristiano when they played together. But when Cristiano left in 2009, I thought, “Okay, now let’s see the real Wayne Rooney.” And what a season it was! I remember we played at the Club World Cup in Asia, Vidic was sent off. Rooney had to change position and move with me to the left flank. He was even more defensive than me.
Wayne was fantastic and scored a lot of goals at that point. We have finally seen Rooney’s true potential. But we can’t compare him to Ronaldo. With all due respect to Wayne,” Evra said on social media.
