The last years of Denis Cheryshev’s career were overshadowed by constant injuries and coaching mistrust. In the summer, the footballer seemed to be even ready to go against his principles and move to a Russian club (there was talk of Spartak). However, in the end, Denis stayed in Europe and signed a contract with a team that is famous for the most beautiful form in the world – Venice.
In the first two matches for the new club, Cheryshev did not mark anything. He clearly needed time to adjust. But already in the third game for Venice, Denis created a real miracle. It seems that the hero of the 2018 World Cup is starting to gain momentum again.

“Be an example for the team”
Cheryshev always emphasized that it was important for him to play in Europe. Even at 31, Denis would rather go to Serie B than to the RPL leader. Such willingness to go down in class and at the same time lose money is respected. I would like to believe that Cheryshev and Venice are a good union.
In Valencia, nothing shone for Denis. He was ousted from the composition by younger and more stable partners. Venice, meanwhile, is an interesting project that needs experienced performers on the football field. And Cheryshev just became one of those.
– There are a lot of young guys in the team who need to progress and grow. Therefore, Denis was invited as an example, as a football player with great experience. Denis’s task is not only to join the squad, but also to be an example for the whole team, – said the football player’s father Dmitry Cheryshev in an interview with RB Sport.

In the first match for “Venice” Denis entered the field for 16 minutes, in the second – for 9. In these meetings, his team lost and drew, and Cheryshev was not marked by anything special. It is understandable: to immediately join the team without knowing the language can be difficult even for an experienced football player. But in the match against Cagliari, the head coach of Venice, Ivan Javorchich, finally believed in the Russian. The Croatian specialist released Cheryshev in the 61st minute – and Denis did not let us down.
“Already making an impact”
Cheryshev managed to do the unbelievable. First, Denis brought his team ahead with a 1-1 score, and then provided it with a comfortable advantage – and it took the Russian two minutes to do all this. And at the end of the meeting, our midfielder also chalked up an assist to Ridgesao Hapsa. 2 + 1 and a crushing victory (4: 1) – is this not the return of the year?
Yavorchich admitted after the game: Cheryshev is the most important acquisition for Venice. But not only the head coach appreciated the game of Denis. Fans on social networks are also delighted with his performance. It took the Russian half an hour to fall in love with the fans.
