“VAR seems to make more decisions than referees” – La Liga coach
Betis head coach Manuel Pellegrini expressed outrage at the fact that key decisions are made by referees under pressure from VAR. In the team’s Sunday match against Celta (0:1), Luis Felipe was removed from the field in the 20th minute of the meeting.
— The team had an outstanding game, playing in the minority for 70 minutes. The removal was decisive. The referee initially gave the player a yellow card, but it appears that VAR makes more decisions than referees. There was no reason for a red card, but this time the VAR system intervened. We were told that VAR would not interfere with these things. Every game is important, it’s hard to get results when you play 70 minutes shorthanded,” Pellegrini said.
Betis are in fourth place in the Spanish Championship standings.
