The Ukrainian experience

In 2012, Ukraine and Poland hosted the European Championship which dethroned Spain after beating Italy, the champions, 4-0 in the final at the Olympic Stadium in Kyiv. Also on the same stage, Real Madrid beat Liverpool 3-1 in 2018 to lift their 13th place.u Champions League.

The remaining candidates for the 2030 World Cup

Uruguay, Argentina, Chile and Paraguay

To celebrate the 100th anniversary of the first World Cup in 2030, hosts Uruguay, Argentina, Chile and Paraguay launched their joint bid in an unprecedented four-way bid to host the centenary World Cup.

Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Greece

According to Saudi Arabia’s official media, the leaders of the three confederations met to form a tripartite World Cup like the one in 2026 (Canada, United States and Mexico). Even the three countries participating in the bid will plan to build new stadiums.

The project will have the partial support of three confederations: Asia, Africa and Europe. Although it would not have UEFA’s approval, after Ceferin made it clear that there are two conditions to get the support of the 55 confederations: that there is only one European bid and that the seat is not shared with another continent.

Additionally, this option would require the World Cup to be played in the northern hemisphere winter due to the high temperatures in the region, which is what happened with Qatar 2022.
