Ukraine will partner with Spain and Portugal in a joint bid for the right to host the 2030 FIFA World Cup, reports The Times.

This partnership, which was approved by the governments of all three countries, should be announced by the leaders of the football federations of Spain and Portugal on Wednesday at a press conference at UEFA headquarters. It is assumed that Ukraine will be able to host one of the groups of the tournament. It is noted that security guarantees will be required, but it is expected that by the time of the World Cup they will be.

In early September, UEFA President Aleksander Čeferin expressed confidence that Spain and Portugal would be eligible to host the 2030 World Cup.

Earlier, Uruguay, Argentina, Chile and Paraguay announced that they would submit a joint application. Morocco also announced this intention, noting that it could unite with Saudi Arabia and Egypt. According to media reports, China may also apply.

The host of the 2030 FIFA World Cup will be voted on at the FIFA Congress in May 2024.
