The Brazilian midfielder of the Moscow “Rodina” Mauricio said that while playing for the Grozny “Akhmat” he received boots with diamonds as a gift from the head of the Chechen Republic, Ramzan Kadyrov.
Mauricio played for Akhmat (formerly Terek) from 2010 to 2015, later the 33-year-old midfielder defended the colors of St. Petersburg Zenit. In the offseason, the Brazilian signed a contract with Rodina, playing in the First League.
– Kadyrov once gave me boots with diamonds. He called me and invited me to dinner at his residence. There he handed me a large box. When I saw what was inside — ofigel. I thought: “Are these really boots with diamonds ?!” These boots are still kept by me – they are at home in a safe, – Mauricio told Sport24.
How much would these boots cost?
– I do not know. For me, this gift is dear not materially, but spiritually. Everything in the world has a price, but you can’t buy a good attitude towards yourself. When people appreciate you not only for what kind of football player you are, but also for what kind of person – this is priceless.
You are the first person to talk about diamond boots. In “Terek” they usually gave cars.
They gave me a car too. But not Kadyrov, but Daudov. It was the 2015/16 season. We played with Ufa, and I scored a brace. After the match, I left the stadium, I look – he is coming towards me. Gave the keys to a brand new Toyota. Either Camry or Corolla.
– Is it? Did you use it at all?
— At that time I had a rented car. So I sold this one to Facundo Piris, our midfielder from Uruguay. He just needed her to carry his family.
– Daudov was not offended?
I think he’ll only find out about it now.
