The head of the refereeing department of the RFU, Pavel Kamantsev, believes that the Orenburg football player Vladimir Sychevoi chose the wrong time and place to propose to his girlfriend. He stated this on the air of the “Rules of the Game” program at MATCH PREMIER.

The game “Orenburg” – “Sochi” was held on Saturday, October 1, and ended with the victory of the hosts with a score of 4:1. In the 44th minute, Sychevoi converted a penalty kick and made it 3-0. After the goal, he approached his girlfriend and proposed to her, handing her a ring. Judge Artem Lyubimov did not punish Sychev, who already had a yellow card.

– I think we, like all people, perceive this moment in a complex way. From a moral point of view, this is a very festive and beautiful event, but, probably, the place and time of its holding were chosen poorly. It is absolutely correct that such celebrations should be punished with a yellow card.

We all remember how Vasily Kazartsev showed a yellow card to Sobolev, who turned to his dead mother. Then Vasily, from the point of view of the rules, did the right thing, but from the moral point of view, not all of his decision was supported. Now the problem lies in the fact that at that time the refereeing department did not deal with the situation and did not carry out explanatory work with referees, players, clubs and fans. Then it was worth explaining that if Sobolev had not taken off his jersey completely, then there would have been no reason for a yellow card.

Sychevoi should have carried out this action before the match or during the break, or after the end of the game, when all commercial activations are made. Then there would be no such problem. Now we want to explain to clubs and players that we are ready to take part in such outstanding events and be their witnesses, but the position of UEFA and FIFA is extremely tough – such actions are not allowed during the match.

A similar episode has already been in Europe, when a football player handed a jersey to a disabled fan after a goal. Then he received a yellow card, and UEFA issued a statement in which he supported such an action, but called for it to be held at half-time or after the match. We have the same position, so we ask clubs, fans and players not to be offended. For such actions, the players will be punished with a yellow card. We must abide by and ensure the rules of the game,” Kamantsev said on MATCH PREMIER.

26-year-old striker Sychevoi scored 8 goals and provided 1 assist in 11 matches for Orenburg this season.
