Zenit defender Vyacheslav Karavaev believes that it is premature to call the club from St. Petersburg the champion of this season WORLD RPL.
Sergey Semak’s team tops the Russian Championship table with 29 points in 11 rounds. On the second line is CSKA, which has 23 points. Rostov closes the top three with 22 points.
In the 11th round, Zenit beat Rostov 3:1 at home.

– Do you think Rostov will compete for the top three?
– Probably, they can, since they started the season like that. And so only time will tell. Karpin created a well-coordinated, militant team that is not afraid of anything, set the game for Rostov.
Many come to us and set up a bus, but Rostov really played football. This is great, folks.
– After the match, Komlichenko said that Rostov is strong in team play, and Zenit wins due to individual skill. What will you answer?
Of course I don’t agree. Without a team game there will be no result. It is impossible to win and win titles only on individual qualities. Create a moment, score a goal – yes. But in any case, the team wins, loses too.
Zenit is primarily strong in team play – we have a very well-played squad. Performing skills are also at a high level.
– Many call Zenit a team from another league – two heads higher than the rest in the RPL. Justified?
– Again, I don’t agree. You can not say that. RPL matches in general and this season specifically show that teams can take points from any opponent. But if we are motivated, collected, give all our best in every match, then we can only lose to ourselves.
– Barrios said recently that Zenit is already a champion. Not overconfident?
– I think I just screwed up. Wilmar was also fed up with this question. We leave after the match, and each time they ask the same thing: “Zenith is the champion”? We like reasoning after several rounds, what place will Zenit or Spartak take. Now it’s premature to talk about it, ”Sport24 quotes Karavaev.
