Former Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson and Roma manager Jose Mourinho have been included in a new version of the Oxford English Dictionary. ESPN.

“The FIFA World Cup kicks off in November, and while the Oxford Dictionary has already covered a large number of football terms, this select batch of additions fills a few gaps in our wording,” the addendum says.

According to the publication, Ferguson’s phrase “squeaky bum time” (“squeaky ass time”) and “park the bus” (play in such a way that they could just as well put their team’s coach in the goal) from Mourinho are included in the dictionary.

The Scottish specialist used the expression in 2003, when Manchester United were battling Arsenal for the English title, to refer to intense moments in competitive sports.

“They have a cup replay against Chelsea and if they win, they have to play in the semi-final three days before the league match with us. But then they said they were going to win the treble, didn’t they? They are having a squeaky boom time, we have the experience to deal with this situation,” Ferguson said at the time.

Also included in the dictionary are the phrases “total football” (an attacking style of football popularized by the Netherlands), row Z (back of the stadium), “false nine” (centre forward who often drops closer to midfield), “trequartista” (attacking player, which operates in the zone between midfielders and forwards), “panenka” (penalty style), “tiki-taka” (playing style), “rabona”, “gegenpressing”.
