Former head coach of CSKA Alexander Tarkhanov shared his impressions of the work of Leonid Slutsky as a coach of Rubin Kazan.
Earlier, a group of initiative Rubin fans created a petition demanding that Slutsky be fired.
– When the team does not show the results that the fans expect, of course, they want to change the coach. It has always been so. It is still difficult for me to evaluate the work of Slutsky in Rubin. The team lost its place in the RPL. Now Kazan are in the leading group in the First League, but at the same time they flew out of the Russian Cup, lost at home to the Tula Arsenal.
It is clear that working at CSKA and at Rubin are two different things. And the level of players is different, and just something is not going well with Slutsky. Although he is a good coach. But even great mentors have problems. At the same time, Kazan are at the top of the standings, and a group of teams has gathered there with a small point difference. So they can solve the problem of entering the Premier League,” Tarkhanov quotes Vprognoze.ru.
On Wednesday, “Rubin” flew out of the FONBET Cup of Russia, losing 1:2 to Ulyanovsk “Volga” in the fourth round match of the tournament. In MELBET First League, Rubin scored 19 points after 12 rounds and ranks sixth in the standings.
Slutsky has been working in Kazan since 2019, under his leadership the team flew out of the MIR RPL in the spring.
