Member of the club Lev Yashin, who was recognized as the best goalkeeper of the USSR, died
An outstanding goalkeeper of the USSR national team Yuriy Degterev died, Vyacheslav Sharafutdinov, press officer of FC Shakhtar from 1995 to 2001, told KP.
The ex-goalkeeper turned 74 on October 5. He has been sick lately.
Degterev played 17 games for the USSR national team, 10 of them went to zero. With Shakhtar Donetsk, the goalkeeper won the USSR Cup in 1980.
In 1977, Degterev was recognized as the best goalkeeper of the USSR and the third player in the country. Five times he was among the 33 best football players in the USSR.
Degterev is a member of Lev Yashin’s club. This symbolic club includes football goalkeepers who play or have played for Russian and Soviet clubs and have kept the goal intact in 100 or more official matches.
