Graduates of the Chertanovo Football Academy, playing in RPL clubs and other leagues, paid all the money in the suit of the Department of Sports of the City of Moscow (Moskomsport) against the former headmaster of the school, Nikolai Larin, Match TV reports.
On September 28, the court sentenced Larin to three years in a penal colony for fraud with a demand to recover 20 million rubles from him in favor of Moskomsport. According to the source, on October 6, the players paid the remaining amount of more than 20.2 million rubles, covering the financial requirements of the department.
Also, the players turned to Moskomsport with a request to appeal the verdict in the case of Larin.
– We, the players of the leading Russian clubs, pupils of the Chertanovo school, are appealing to the leadership of the Moscow Sports Committee with a request to appeal the verdict against the former director of our school, Nikolai Yuryevich Larin. As an injured party in a proceeding, you have the right to do so, and we ask that you exercise this right. It depends on you whether Larin will sit in prison for three years or go free and be able to do a lot more for Russian football, the letter says.
Larin, who headed the Chertanovo Academy from 2008 to 2021, according to investigators, overestimated the number of academy students in order to obtain additional funding. The court found that the total damage from the actions of the functionary amounted to 36 million 211 thousand rubles.
