Teryushkov explained the call to completely abandon legionnaires in Russian football

State Duma deputy Roman Teryushkov believes that Russian football should completely abandon foreign players, this will save money and give domestic players an opportunity to prove themselves.

– I still think that it is necessary to completely abandon foreign players in Russian football. Let the level of the championship fall – there is nothing to worry about. We will save money, give way to the guys with Russian passports. Even if we leave one or two foreigners – what is the point of this? What is the logic? There is a legionnaire and there is.

We have our own great players. Our championship used to be watched with great interest, the European championships were in the background. For some reason, we forced ourselves to believe in the European “candy” that international sports imposed on us – you are not an athlete if you have not won the Olympic Games. They have made sport a commerce, they impose only money.

According to the new limit on foreign players, each MIR RPL club is allowed to include 13 foreign players in the application. No more than eight foreign players can be on the field at the same time.
