Ancelotti reacts to the fact that Manchester City was recognized as the best club of the year, not Real Madrid
Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti responded to a question about Manchester City’s team of the year award during the Ballon d’Or gala despite Madrid winning the Champions League last season.
— I do not know the selection criteria. I think they look at the teams. The best was Real Madrid – the winner of the Champions League. Knocking out Manchester City in the semi-finals was very difficult, it was all about the little things, and they won the Premier League. We really respect this award (“Golden Ball”), but we won the most important tournament (Champions League) in May,” said Ancelotti.
In the fight for the prize, Manchester City was ahead of second-placed Liverpool and third-placed Real Madrid.
