“The wings of the Soviets” midfielder Artyom Sokolov summed up his team’s match against Zenit in the Russian Cup (1: 2).
It was a difficult match. In the first half, a lot didn’t work out. We expected to give away the ball and play on the counterattack. We conceded goals in the first and second half and we had to return. Somewhere “Zenith” gave the ball and we tried to control the game. It’s good that they scored. We wanted to score second, but it didn’t work out.
It’s hard to say why it didn’t work on the break. Somewhere they were in a hurry, somewhere there were the children’s mistakes. It probably had something to do with it. More space was needed. Somewhere there was not enough luck for the ball to somehow bounce, finish and shoot sharply.
