Former Spartak head coach Dmitry Alenichev admitted that he accepts jokes about “Alenichev’s luggage” with a smile.

Alenichev led the Red-Whites from June 2015 to August 2016. After his dismissal, the Italian Massimo Carrera was appointed the head coach of Spartak, who led the Moscow club to the championship in the RPL in the 2016/17 season.

– Who is Fedun for Spartak? And who is he for Alenichev?

– I am grateful to Leonid Arnoldovich for inviting me to Spartak. I would like to work longer, but there was a misfire, which we all know very well. This was the management’s decision. I accepted it. It was sad! What to be offended? I wanted to work at the club for three, four, five years. Not as much as Romantsev, but nonetheless. It turned out the way it did. That year the team became champions. I heard about “Alenichev’s luggage”, I always perceive it with a smile. And I am grateful to Massimo Carrera for bringing Spartak to the championship.

– Is it possible to ask Alenichev a question in the subjunctive mood? What would have happened if Alenichev had stayed?

– Either they would become champions or silver medalists. Exactly! I saw that the team that we have assembled can, for at least three or four years, create competition for Zenit in the fight for the championship. If I had stayed at Spartak, for example, I would not have allowed what happened next to happen. When Spartak became the champion, and then the team dispersed. Many players have left. I wouldn’t let that happen, wouldn’t let the players go. Perhaps one. But for the backbone of the team to leave – no, definitely, – Alenichev is quoted by Match TV.

Alenichev’s last place of work was the Krasnoyarsk Yenisei, which he left in May 2019.
